  1. I have an XVid AVI that I want to cut out one short scene..

I cut the scene, set the video and audio to 'copy' (so it doesn't re-encode), and save the new video..

But- I can't play the new video.. I can hear the audio, but not see the video..

I CAN play the original, no problem..

    ??

  2. did you cut on keyframes? (if not, did it ask you to smart render?)

did you use format=> avi ?

    did you give name + extension (e.g. "myvideo.avi") ?

  3. I'm not sure if I cut out keyframes or not.. when I saved the video, it DID ask if I wanted to smart render (and I clicked 'yes')..

My output format is AVI (no specific configuring, Normal Muxing, etc)

I add the extention on render (test.avi) as I saw it didn't add it automatically..

Very weird problem, I hope it can be solved..

  4. what does mediainfo or gspot say about the exported file?

    what version of avidemux?

what media player are you using to play ?

as an alternative you could use vdub to edit for now

  5. Mediainfo doesn't show any errors:

    Container and general information
    AVI: 694 MiB, 1h 20m
1 video stream: MPEG-4 Visual (XviD)
1 audio stream: MPEG Audio (MP3)

    First video stream
    1 077 Kbps, 640*336 (1,905), at 25.000 fps, MPEG-4 Visual (XviD) (Simple@L3)(BVOP)

    First audio stream
    117 Kbps, 48.0 KHz, 16 bits, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (MP3) (Version 1)(Layer 3)(Joint stereo / MS Stereo)

It is the latest version of AVIDemux (I just downloaded it)

I'm just trying to play it in Windows Media Player (the original does play)..

I guess I can try to change the Video settings from 'Copy' to MPEG-4 ASP (XviD), although I think that re-encodes, right? I'm trying to avoid that..

This should be easy, I'm literally just cutting out one shot..

  6. Can you see if it plays in another player e.g. vlc, mpchc

Maybe the newest avidemux version is buggy? You can try older versions/builds

Yes, if you set video to Xvid it will re-encode

Vdub should work as well, and you can setup smart render also
