Hello All;
I'm new to transcoding and I wasn't sure if this should be in the audio or video transcoding thread.
I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to transcode a DVD to MKV format: H.264 video format at 3000 kbps with all other settings matching the original VOB; audio kept as is (AC3 192 kbps); MKV container. I have been tinkering around with MediaCoder and XviD4PSP 6.0--I like both programs but, so far, I have had less issues with XviD4PSP 6.0 (I'm in love with this program).
My delima: I can not get the audio to match up with video. I have done some homework and discovered that audio can be out of sync when the file's original fps is altered or if the original file profile is changed (VBR vs CBR vs ABR). Even when keeping the fps as is and keeping the original audio format and settings the resulting transcoded product presents with out of sync A/V.
I believe the problem stems from the VOB settings in that the audio and video start times differ. See below for VOB information:
Name: VTS_01_3.VOB

The start time for the video and audio differ by 63528 milliseconds (I assume the unit of measurement is ms) and I presume that transcoding abolishes this start time difference. How in the hell do I get Xvid4PSP 6.0 to keep the original start times of the video and audio or instruct the program to shift the audio to fit the video file?! Please help.
