I'm editing a movie in Final Cut. The movie is gonna be in DVD format. I'm using DVD studio Pro for authoring.
But I have a huge problem with subtitles. I'd like to add them to my movie but only as an option. I wanna have a possibility to turn on or off the subtitles.
Could anyone be so kind and help me with this? Can I use DVD Pro Studio for that?
Or would I need another software for that?
I use Macbook Pro (OS Leopard) - no Windows hints, please...![]()
I will really appreciate your help a lot!!
My original movie files are:
QT Xdcam EX 50MB/s VBR 1080p 16:9
Thank you!

Regardless of what your original files are, for them to be compatile with DVD and usable in DVD StudioPro, you need them in standard, Standard Def, MPG2 format.
DVDStudio Pro is easy to create subs - you should just be able to add a sub track (Has had since v1.0). Unless you SPECIFICALLY set it otherwise, all subs are optional. You do have Help / Manual, right?

Oh, I have NO problem adding subs. The problem is: how to make them optional, using DVD Studio Pro.
I want a viewer to have an option on menu: with subs/without. I don't know how to do that.
I really need some helpful hints 'cause after so many frustrating time I spent on this project I can't figure that out.
And no, I don't have a manual
I will appreciate you help a lot!

Could anyone please help me? I have subs in txt - how do I get the subs' streamline?
Please! I can't figure that out - anyone? -
Like I said before, unless you tell it otherwise, ALL subs in DVDStP are "optional".
You turn them on and off with your player's remote. If you want them built into a menu choice, just use the stream pre-selection for the choice's target.
Don't have it in front of me right now (I'm on a PC in a car), but Menu button should have A. target VTS/Chapter movie stream, B. target's pre-selected audio stream (if there are multiples), and C. target's pre-selected sub stream (if multiples), among other things...

Although this is for v2, the process is the same:
