Have a Optiplex 980 that will be meant for occasional video editing tasks. This won't be used for really anything else, so hard drive space can be pretty well devoted to it. I cannot pick anything not provided by Dell for it.
Will be purchasing CS5 Premiere for it.
Cannot change from the Dell and all parts must be able to built with the 980, but hoping I can make a build work well enough for the occasional project with video from a Canon GL2. Mostly for web based video projects. Don't believe there will be any change in videocamera but if we did change wondering if this would handle HD from a midrange videocamera.
Anything I should really look for specifically for a monitor for this?
Build:
Optiplex 980 Minitower
Win 7 - 64 bit
4 GB - 2 Dimm or 8 GB RAM - 4 Dimm
1 GB Nvidia GeForce GT330
250 GB HD, thinking 2nd drive 250 GB as well. Or maybe 1 500 GB HD?
i5 650 or would i7 be necessary?
Dell branded 22 or 24 inch (any specific recommendations appreciated) currently using HP LP2465
Firewire card
Also looking for Dell's best 22 or 24 inch IPS panel for a graphics-editing machine. Saw the U2410, but $599 looks awfully low for an IPS screen, HP DreamColor's IPS panel is $2,000. Is there a better Dell that I am not seeing?
Thanks for any suggestions.
