  1. Hello,

I am looking to covert some tapes from a MiniDv cam and looking at the possibility of a direct capture to something like a portable dvr or something like it that would capture directly to a mp4 or something similar that I could transfer directly to a pc. Anyone have any suggestions. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

you could use a firewire port and capture direct to the computer. if you don't have a firewire port add-in cards are available fairly cheap.

Direct capture to MPeg4 will lower quality. Is that OK? What is the target device? An iPod?

What is your budget for this portable device?

  6. edDV: Lower quality is ok. Target device will to be played on pc's, laptops, etc. Budget wise I don't won't to get too crazy, not more that a few hundred would be nice. Thanks.
