  1. My goal is to be able to edit .m2ts files.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and using AnyDVD HD 6.7.1.0.
I have a legal copy of all the Blurays I am working with.

Whether I copy the bluray files to my hard drive or just view them via AnyDVD, some of them are not recognized as video files by Windows but all of the files are .m2ts files. I can play all of the .m2ts files with windows media player and sound works on all of them but some will not have video. The .m2ts files that have video using windows media player are the same files that i can edit, The .m2ts files that have no video cant be edited.

The issue is not because of file size because i can edit a 23Gb file from one bluray but cant edit a 22GB file from a different Bluray.

Editing software is Vegas pro 9.

Thanks in advance for help on this issue, Patrick.

added image. This is a screenshot of the files when using AnyDVD. As you can see some of the files arent recognized by windows. Why are some .m2ts files recognized while others are not. These files are on the bluray viewed via AnyDVD. Thank for any help you can provide.

Try using mpchc or vlc to play them instead. Or if you have a professional bluray playing software you could try loading them in that.

  3. Thanks for your help. Vlc is able to play the files but I am trying to edit the files not just play them. My goal is to be able to edit the .m2ts files. I just cant figure out why i can edit some of them and not all of them. Thanks and have a great day.

  4. probably vc-1 blu-ray

vegas can import mpeg2 and avc blu-ray .m2ts, but not vc-1

you can use mediainfo to confirm

  5. one thing that is curious to me is that before i attempt to edit the files, I just explore the files using AnyDVD. The files that I am able to edit are the same files Windows can see as video files. So, If i browse to the bluray there are several files that windows does not recognize as video files. I am having the issue before i attempt to edit the files.

quite simply i can see 7 of 27 .m2ts files on one bluray and 48 of 58 .m2ts files on a different bluray. this wouldnt be a anyDVD issue would it?
