Yes this is true. I have a 90 min. cdr from Platinum. The problem is that my cd-writer can not burn 90 min.

  3. Good point by BHawk. I too bought a "10 Disc Sample Pack" of 90 minute mdeia and they failed to work with my burner. You may want to research compatibility before buying any. Also, there is a lot of negative litature on the net regarding 90 and 99 minute CD-R's (yes, there are 99 minute CD-R's too).

Since my burner wont burn them, I can not give you any personal experience on the subject. I would recommend, however, to search around and become knowledgable on the pros and cons of the media. This knowledge may save you some frustration down the line.

    Good luck,

I just ordered some 90/99 minute CD-R's from an online place here in the states:

    http://store.yahoo.com/yesbuy/cd-r.html

I haven't recived them yet so I can't tell you how well they work. . of course, that depends on the cd-writer, firmware and burning software. For $7 I suppose it's worth a gamble, though I will be surprised if I can burn more than 87 minutes w/ my older writer (Philips), which can overburn to 729MB on an 80 minute CD-R. If you can't overburn an 80 minute disc, you will not be able to use the 90/99 minute CD-Rs, since the ATIP on a 90/99 minute disc will still say 79:59:54--the extra 10/19 minutes is done by overburning. Try overburning an 80 minute disc to about 82 minutes--if you can do it, you should be able to get at least 87 minutes on a 90, if not more.

  8. The Lite-On 24x10x40 drive will burn up to 99minutes and 59 seconds with cdr99 discs.

I find Infinti 99min cdrs great and they play fine on the computer but not many stand alone dvd players will play past 90 minutes.
