  1. I am running into a small issue that is annoying me to no end

I have a dvd (custom I made) that has 3 vts title sets. The first title set has 4 pgc's for video content. The remaining two Vts titles have one pgc.

Here is what is going on and it is driving me nuts, on the computer the dvd plays fine (power dvd), but on my set top (pioneer) it seems to be disobeying the post command after the last chapter plays (I have that as return to menu). If I do not touch it and the last chapter ends it goes back to the menu. However if I hit "next" on the remote during the last chapter of whatever pgc, instead of going back to the menu it is jumping to the next pgc or the next vts title set pgc.

I have no other post commands other than the back to menu jump. I need to disable the disc so one cannot jump to the next pgc or title set. In dvdremakepro I was playing with some of the user prohibited options. I am not sure which ones I should check (the disc is dual layered and I do not want to keep burning/wasting them to test the film)

I cannot find any definitions for these prohibited user options
    title play
    top or previous program search
    next program search

again I want to disable pgc and title set jumping if you hit next when the last chapter is playing (I still want the user to be able to jump through chapters in whatever pgc). I have made quite a number of dvds before and have never had this issue, so I am not sure what command somewhere might be causing it. Also is there some sort of cell command I could possible add in to fix this without using the PUO setup?

The disc was mostly authored with Ulead dvd workshop 2. I then added in other material from other dvds made with muxman ( used dvdremakepro for that)

    thanks again

  2. hmmm I was thinking that perhaps my disc is suffering from the old "last chapter bug" as they are seamless and usually the last chapter is non auto for that reason (so the disc knows that feature ends and where to properly go after). I might add a dummy chapter to each pgc (remakepro for that) and since it will be "no auto" and literally no time to it, I night then use that and have a cell command to direct it to a menu

Will give this a shot, but if anyone can help out (in case this fails) with what I originally posted it would greatly be appreciated

A dummy chapter is a good solution to force post-commands on 'next'. You don't need a cell command since it will be performed instead of post-commands when you don't use the remote and will not be performed when you use 'next' on the last movie program (it will then lead to dummy chapter -> post-commands). So in both cases post-commands are executed - or do you want any different behaviour on 'next'?
Seamless attribute only does matter if there are cell commands (they are skipped if seamless). I recently had to manually remove 'seamless' from the added dummy cell since I had added it after a cell already having a command (it appeared to be seamless to my surprise; unlike that, at the moment you add a cell command, the program automatically removes seamless from next cell).

    P.S.
BTW, are those PGCs in separate titles of the VTS? If not, something like Next/Prev PGC flags might also have influence here.

  4. You could switch around the title sets so that when the last chapter is playing and you hit 'Next' on the remote, there isn't any next title for it to jump to and it'll go back to the menu. PGCEdit is the tool for this, DVD -> Remap Titlesets.

You might also run the Trace to try and figure out where's it's going wrong in the first place. And you can also use PGCEdit to create a short dummy chapter which should also solve the problem.

    Hey Alex,
in the first vts I do have 4 pgc titles that are all different content. Each of these has their own chapters, so in the first vts title set the next/pre pgc flags as you mentioned might be effecting that. However because the other 2 vts titles only have 1 pgc per title it has to be something else in addition. Later tonight (because it was very early this morning when I posted this) Will try the dummy chapter route if I have issues with the remap feature listed by Manono

Thanks for the info. I will try the remap titleset feature first. Hell I might do both of remap and add a dummy chapter. I also will have pgc edit do a trace and see what is what

Let you know the results very soon as I need to get this project completed

  6. SOLVED: I did go with the trace route in pgcedit and it showed that whatever pgc I tested, was going to the correct menu after playing, so that did not help. However I was then going to use the title remap option, but even if I did do this, I would then have to do more work since 4 pgcs share vts1, (but I do like that option) and though the remap would stop the vts title pgc jump, it would not stop the few pgcs sharing one title. In end I went with the simple way first and added dummy cell and chapter (unchecked seamless) at the end of each pgc. This worked fine and now my player will not jump from title to title

Thank you both for the help--
