  1. I just received my easycap dc60 in the mail today, i am trying to use it to play xbox 360 on my laptop. I am running windows 7 64 bit. I downloaded all of the correct drivers for it but the audio isn't working. I can live with the video quality though. My current setup is only xbox 360 av cable --> easycap --> usb port. Could someone please help me fix my audio problems? All of the audio is up to full.

Everything is NTSC format as it should be for my xbox.

I recall a post from another member here who wanted to capture from his XBox 360 using an EasyCap. He split both RCA audio connections with 1-to-2 audio adapter cables to successfully feed stereo audio to his capture device and his TV. When he tried to use the same kind of cable with composite video, the resulting video quality was poor. He solved his problem by using an XBox 360 cable from Microsoft that included both composite video and S-Video connectors.

For audio problems, watch this tutorial and see if it helps.

If not, you could try the same method with other drivers. I can't promise that any of these will help, and as always, virus scan the downloads before installing.

Vista drivers from the bottom of the page at this link: http://www.vidblasterus.com/accessories.htm

The drivers for Sabrent's USB 2.0 Video & Audio DVD Maker have also been reported to work for some EasyCap clones http://www.sabrent.com/drivers.php

If you are using Ulead Video Studio watch these for more tips about getting audio working.

If you are using other capture software, it might be useful to post that information.

It appears I missed something in your post. It looks like you may merely be using using the laptop as a substitute for a TV, are not splitting the signals from the XBOX 360 to feed both a TV and the EasyCap, and don't plan on capturing the video and audio. In that case, you will have another problem, which you may not have noticed yet.

Because of the way Windows Direct Show handles capture devices, there is a about a 1 second difference between what a TV hooked up to the game system would display and what a PC would display using a capture device to provide audio and video input. The delay increases if audio and video capture is performed. I recently found out that for my internal (not USB) capture card there is a way to greatly reduce the delay when simply using a laptop/PC instead of a TV, and there is no need for capturing the input to a file. It is to use the laptop's microphone jack or line-in jack for audio input instead of the EasyCap's audio connections. Hopefully the same is true for USB capture devices. This should clear up your audio problem as well. You will need an adapter for that, like one of these to use with the audio connections on your XBOX 360 AV cable.

As for picture quality, using the EasyCap's S-Video connection would still provide a slightly better picture than using its composite connection would. However, the biggest factor may be resolution. The resolution for NTSC is limited to 720x480 maximum. Enlarging the picture to fill the laptop screen makes it look fuzzier and magnifies any defects.
