Customers get sued all the time for non payment of services or goods. Happens on a daily basis in the business world. I have a bunch of judgments myself here from dead beats that don't pay their bills and would certainly advocate anyone in business going after people that don't pay you for services or goods. Musicians are no different and shouldn't be expected to not use the legal system like any business can to recoup costs lost to people that don't want to pay the bill.

Actually he'd have a real problem if he did decide to sue all the Mp3 downloaders .. for a start Amazon and (apple) Itunes may decline to give him their customer list. Downloading Mp3's is NOT a crime. Downloading some MP3's without paying for them is NOT a crime. IF I download an Mp3 of a CD I own, am I committing a crime? No. (IANAL, so IMO)
The actual crime is Publishing(legalese), or making available for others to download, music that you do not own those rights too.
The real problem is that Bittorrent by its nature is both a Download and Upload client as are most of the other music-sharing programs.
Is he going to let all the real music-heads who download in FLAC or iso off the hook??Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

The thread title is a bit misleading, he's doesn't actually refer to MP3's but simply "downloading", you can interpret it how you want but I think its pretty obvious he is referring to any unlicensed material. This wouldn't apply to Amazon or Itunes.

but he's saying, and what everyone is saying, is that he doesnt have the right to prohibit downloading of mp3's or anything else people have bought and paid for, nor does he have the right to tell people what to do with property they have bought and paid for, nor does he have the right to prohibit people from altering licenses which benefit the ubercorrupt and cripple technology and meddle in the lives and lifestyles of the people, barring them from doing things like changing license fees just so they can use them on their mp3 player, or let their friends hear something they like via electronic means.. email, torrents, websites, whatever
the music industry actually wants to do away with email and torrents all together.. and if they had their way they would do away with all mp3 players, mp4 players, and make using a computer a crime as well

he's not doing anything of the sort.. what he is doing is 'going after"/ belligerently attacking people's rights and welfare
imagine if May company stores suddenly decided to sue everyone who brought back a shirt that had been worn.. because they now had updated infra-red scanners that could scan for B.O. and sweat, and they also took some DNA samples and determined the amount of wear, they then detained you at the store until a squad of FBI/Corporate Thugs showed up to whisk you away into a corporate holding cell / public prison
and then, to add to that.. the CEO of the company went up on national TV and called everyone who ever put on a shirt for a day and then took it back a freckled-faced criminal dirt-bag lowlife who should be swept up off the streets of america like the sickened disease-filled rubbish he is
and then, for a moment, pretend that all the clothes they sold actually just materialized out of thin air from the people of america's own approval and applause, and then, the emperor wearing those clothes of approval walks up before the people and calls them all degenerate and dishonest criminals and thieves, demanding they make more clothes for him.. some outer garments, and an exquisite robe...
and he's really just imagining those clothes are even there.. they are in his mind alone.. the people have seen through to his very naked center, and laughed and ridiculed him back into his naked foolishness
and perhaps he will never learn the moral of the story.. that its the people who make the emperor, and only the people

there really has never been this much totalitarian oppression and demands of servitude and concessions without representation in america since about 1776
whats the difference between those people, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, etc.. and the people of today?
apparently we are all snot-nosed freckle-faced computer dorks, and they were not
-
they were real men
real men who fought and died for freedom and the right to representation and fair treatment, a people who thought that having a say in their own lives and laws which affect those lives was something worth waging war on their own country for
real men
and we.. we are all snot-nosed freckle-faced computer doofs

I don't see any indication of that at all, did you even watch the video to see what he said? The only reference he makes is to people downloading content they have not paid for.
now stop your day dreaming.. you arent a real man.. go back to being the tool you know you really areLast edited by thecoalman; 28th Oct 2010 at 10:52.
