If you have to ask about this then you have no idea at all what's involved or the difficulty of accomplishing the job. That guide should quickly discourage you. Just buy a DVD player that plays PAL DVDs.

LouieLou, you'll save yourself a lot of misery if you forget about conversion and just settle for ripping the PAL DVDs to your computer hard drive and watching them on the PC.

If these are commercial movies that you must absolutely watch on your home TV, then settle for buying the NTSC version.

  5. Thanks for the Guide and sorry for being such a newb, i took the vob files alone and used Nero Vision takes time but it works and i did notice that the audio came down about 20% from the original Pal Vob using Nero, i will try and search for a better program hopefully i can at least convert the Vobs and maybe not loose any Audio

Sure you can get it done with commonplace consumer-ware, but the results will rarely ever be good. They will just add frames, or interpolate, etc, which will hurt efficiency/quality/smoothness of movement/etc.

The best way to do it is with Avisynth and a good MPEG-2 encoder like CCE/HEnc and then re-author. This takes patience, practice, and a few coasters. But nevertheless, if you're up to a challenge you should learn something along the way.
I hate VHS. I always did.

I have a great number of PAL dvd's from the UK and australia and never have I had a problem playing them on a suitable dvd player, the only reason to convert is for a friend or relative who does not have such a player, even then, buy them one for a birthday/chirstmas present, its a lot less hassle.

Go off and learn askill that will benefit mankind/earn money and leave converting ntsc or pal to machines designed to do so.
    PAL/NTSC problem solver.
USED TO BE A UK Equipment owner., NOW FINISHED WITH VHS CONVERSIONS-THANKS
