Mencoder Maximum Height/Width

Hi,

I've been putting some jpeg images through mencoder and creating x264 stream outputs, it seems the maximum mencoder can cope with for width and height is about 4000x3000 ... is this a real limitation or is there something i can configure to exceed those width and height crash bugs?

This is not an actual solution, but

what about using jpeg2yuv + x264 ???

I could try it, but would i have an issue extracting the image (as png) from the encoded video using mplayer if the image is > 5000x4000 (even with the jpeg2yuv layer in between).
