I have been searching around the site for a solution to my issue. I am confused by some of the things I have read, but am going to try some of them. However, I would also like to pose the question to you all. I am recording performances, services, etc. at my church from multiple cameras to a DVD. After the performance I would like to take the DVD and "edit" the content. By editing I mean that I would like to cutout portions, especially those where there are changes to the set and no need to have been recorded. In the past I have taken the VOBs off the disk and manually edited through Vegas. However, the file is then re-rendered and quality goes down. Is there an easy way to cut out some scenes from the VOB and then burn back to a DVD without the re-rendering? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Yes. Assuming this is a completed dvd that can be read in any computer rip it to the computer and then use dvd shrink in reauthor mode. You can use it to cut out the parts you don't want and reauthor it quickly.
There are plenty of mpeg cutters available also that can import vob files if all your doing is cutting the files and nothing else.

Keep in mind, several editors, as is Vegas, although fancy and feature-filled, are built to deal with acquisition sources, such as DV, and are (for some reason) not designed for MPEG-2, hence need to re-render, which is why you will get second-rate results.
I will stress that when editing MPEG-2, which is the format in the .vob file, you should be using an MPEG dedicated editor. The choices given, such as Womble, TMPGEnc, VideoReDo, etc are excellent.I hate VHS. I always did.
