How to edit 6 channel (dolby 5.1) ac3 file in Audacity? I imported ac3 file into Audacity and its a multi-track file - have six separate tracks. I need edit file, then convert it into MP3 for ringtone.

  2. Ringtone? Downmix to Mono or Stereo and do whatever you want with it.

I assume it's a real short AC3 file, so you might want to just convert it to Stereo PCM WAV first and then open it in Audacity.

Audacity 1.3beta. I do channels mixing via Tracks > Mix and Render, this creates a mono file, though. Mixing creates a mono file only?

  4. I don't know anything about ringtones, but aren't they mono? Phones don't have 2 speakers, do they?

  6. OK, make it stereo, if not in Audacity then in BeSweet or HeadAC3he before sending to Audacity. I don't quite understand what the problem is.
