wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here? i need to take a video and embed it in a webpage so it plays on browsers, ipads, iphones, blackberrys, and a ton of other devices, possibly some even older Nokia type devices. not even sure where to begin here.

Vimeo will do it. However, I believe you need the paid account to do it. Double check their website. They have just implemented the feature that streams to all of those little screen devices. I have experimented with the iphone version 4 but have had some people say they can't see the vids on their phone.

it can't be some branded service like vimeo. it's gotta be custom made.

In the PC past the most universal were wmv and flash for short clips. Steve Jobs wants to block both on his devices. Other phones don't have the processing power for wmv or flash.
You need a consultant to help you target your media. You may need a host that provides formats by client type. WMV does most of that but may not satisfy Apple products.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
