  1. Is it normal that it takes 14 hours to convert a 150 MB AVI file to MPEG (with panasonic mpeg1 encoder)??

    ouch!! pentium II 266mhz with only 64mb ram. encoding will be slow. how much audio/video (how many minutes) in that 150mb avi file? is it a divx avi? if so, stay away from divx until you upgrade your CPU/machine. the divx codec/format is the most CPU intensive of all the codecs available.

    usually the utility you load it in has a "properties" or "file info" menu item you can select to look at the specifics of your avi.
