Need to create MPEG-4 movie in an AVI container ... how ?

I have a movie in regular AVI format.

I need to export it in this format:
XVID ISO MPEG-4 Compressor.

I have Premiere Pro , but no option to export in this codec / compressor.

What program will convert my avi into an avi (mp4) ?

Install the Xvid codec? Export as AVI.

what version of premiere?

in recent versions , if you have xvid installed, it will be under microsoft avi => format xvid

I have cs3.
I installed the Xvid codec and Prem has found it and am currently trying to export an avi with it.

At the moment its spinning and saying "compiling" and nothing is happenign. I think its crashed (as it often does on my Win7 machine).

On another machine I am running MPEG STREAMCLIP which I am exporting to AVI under H264.
I'll see how that comes out.

A workaround would be to export a lossless intermedate (e.g. uncompressed, lagarith, huffyuv) , then encode with another application (you could use xvid4psp, avidemux, vdub, megui etc...)

h.264 is mpeg4 part 10, not mpeg-4 ASP. (it's not the same as xvid)
