This seems like it would be a common question but after searching google for an hour I get nothing. I copied an AVI file in "My Videos" folder on my Dad's PC (Windows 7) and while the other AVI files show up, on his PS3, this one does not. Neither one of us know much about this. Is there some kind of step I need to do to get the file to show up?
Thanks!

"AVI files"
A: Video type supported ... ps3 reference link
B: Followed by using mediainfo or gspot on the problematic "avi" and confirm it complies with (A)
If you find yourself up against "mkv" then try this guide
Have you disconnected the ps3 after the "avi transfer on the windows 7 system ... and then checked ? -
It's a DivX file of a TV show that I downloaded. We have other files like it in the directory and they show up fine. It also plays fine via USB.

I assume you are using Windows Media Player to serve videos to the PS3 ?
Windows Media Player's streaming service is stupid insofar as it does not update the streaming library itself. In order for new files to be served you have to open Windows Media Player and make sure it updates all the library folders soit is aware of the new material.
Or use a better streaming tool, such as PS3 Media ServerRead my blog here.

Yes I'm positive he uses WMP. Thanks for the info. I'll download PS3 Media Server and try it out.
