    If you bought the PS3 in the USA or Canada then the answer is "yes".

    I am guessing that Berkshire is probably in the UK, in which case the accurate answer is no - the PS3 will be resolutely Region 2 and unchangeable. However it will handle NTSC, in which case you can rip the disc to your HDD, removing the region code from the disc, then burn it to a new disc which will play in the PS3. I do this to get around the same issue with my Region 4 PS3.
