I'm going to order a spindle of Verbatim CDR's, and noticed the 94554 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029U1DU/ref=oss_product
    and the 94712 http://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-100PK-CD-R-700MB-94712/dp/B0001LR1KU/ref=sr_1_1?s=elect...5539803&sr=1-1

and, beside the $10 difference in price, is there any other difference, that is worth talking about, that is? Thanks!

  2. 94712 has a clean white surface for writing on. The other is silver with logos.

    Thanks for the reply.
I saw that.......but wasn't sure if that was the main difference, or something else as well. On that note, I've been doing a little reading here, and see that some Verbatim are better than others, depending on the manufacturer and whatnot. Are either of the ones I posted the links to anything to be concerned with?

  4. I haven't used CDs in a long time so I don't keep track of what's good anymore. I don't know if there's any other difference - but printable (inkjet, thermal) media always costs more.

    Thanks again.
Yeah, I mainly use them for simply making cd copies for the car and whatnot, maybe putting pictures on, or whatever, and have been using Sony CDs, but have heard so much good talk about Verbatim, thought I'd try them. Just want to make sure I'm getting the right ones, or the "better" ones.

Tried signing up there, and obviously they are having problems with their site. Also looks like no one has posted there in a while.

    Puppets86 - here's what we've basically said around here:

It's only with DVD discs that there MIGHT (heavy emphasis on that word) be a case of SOME Verbatims being better than others. Specifically the DataLife series (not to be confused with the excellent DataLifePlus series) now being sold in stores like Best Buy MAY be inferior to other Verbatim DVD discs. The DVD+R DL discs made in India (usually the slower speed DL discs - DataLifePlus DL and 6x-10x DL are NOT made in India) MAY be inferior to made in Singapore DL discs. We've had no discussion at all about some Verbatim CD-Rs being better than others.

We had a discussion recently where many said that in their opinion today there is really little difference between CD-R discs and even discs made by companies other than Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden MAY be OK. I have to say that while I now buy only Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs that I've had pretty good luck with CD-Rs made by other companies in the past.

Bottom line - whatever you get for Verbatim CD-Rs should be OK.

jman98 - thanks for clearing things up with that info!

On a side note, since you mentioned DVD=R DL discs, I bought these a while back http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F0ELOG/ref=oss_product

to copy an out of balance store bought dvd. Are these considered the "better" ones, or I guess I should say, more than adequate? Thanks!

Yes, country of origin is of some contention with the DataLife series. But the new "Life" series seems to be the biggest problem.

The ones I have appear be made in India. So, any of the DataLife Plus series will be from Singapore, yes?
That being said, would I be better off buying these? http://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-DataLifePlus-Inkjet-Printable-Spindle/dp/B0001LRIT4/ref...549623&sr=8-37

The only DataLifePlus you'll find from Singapore these days will be Double Layer DVD+R. Most of the single-layer printable media is made in Taiwan.
