    How do you tell if this source is 720p or 1080p source?

  2. 1280 width = 720p source
    1920 width = 1080i/p source

    Of course, a video with 1280 width could have been 1080p (or any other size) originally.

    i know that 1280x720 is the 720p if the video for example is 1280x544 this video is 720p????

    No. The original could have been (and most likely was) 1080p, but has been cropped and resized down. For example, many people crop and resize bluray rips to this type of resolution in order to get a reasonable file size, however the source was 1080p (or maybe 1080i).

    There is no way to determine the original source resolution.

    In your example, 720p is the closest fit, was not, in most cases, the original source resolution

    You can't because the source has been resized and re-encoded to 1280x536p (2.35 to 1 aspect) so it is now 536p.

    One can guess that the source was 1280x720 but it could have been other from 720x480 to 1920x1080.
