  1. This may sound stupid but I was wondering if their was a program that would allow me to burn to vcd from an mpeg without using a cd writer.

Any Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Yep, your right it does sound stupid, but I am sure there is some sense in what your trying to do... if we could only figure it out.

How do you propose to write a cd, without a cd-writer ?

When you say burn to vcd, are you meaning to "Write the disk" or simply make an image "ready to burn" on your hard drive ?

If its to simply test the vcd before you write, "Video pack 5" comes with its own VCD emulator.

    Sorry, need more input

  3. I need a program because I have no Cd writer for a couple of weeks and I want to carry on making my vcds but the program I have only burns vcd straight to cd.

Are their any other programs that will do the job? Where can I get Video Pack 5.0 from?

    Hi

    See I was guessing right...

Well most of the writer programs will let you make an image, set up the VCD as normal but tell it to write an image.

Nero, Easy Cd Creator (Vcd Creator), Video pack 5 are just a few. Where to get them well.. www.roxio.com www.nero.com

You could even look on this site, I am sure there are plenty of links to freeware !

I think what you are saying is you want to still make VCD compliant Mpeg video files which when you get your writer back you can make a VCD with them.

In a word, TMPGEnc. Also use VCD Easy and you will get chapters on your VCD's

  7. Nero as a utility called Nero Image Drive.

Once you load it, it will create an extra CD drive on your computer (a virtual one).

When burning with Nero, select image Recorder, this will tell Nero to write the image of your VCD to your hard drive.

Then, using the Nero Image drive, load the image and it is just like if you had a CD Rom loaded on your computer.

Later, when you get your CD RW drive, you can use Nero to burn the image to real CDs.

Lets chip in and get one NOW !!

I think the easiest way would be just to make those Mpeg's, you can view them now in Windows media player, and they are ready to burn to cd when you have the writer back...
