Stream to your ps3 with ps3 media server or convert with mkv2vob and play the special vob on your ps3.

And a mkv is not any blu-ray so moving you to our general section.

Other good streaming apps include tversity and playon (both require a fee for streaming hulu and other internet sites but file streaming from computers is free).

Also its best if at all possible to stream via lan. Wireless streaming can be spotty to unwatchable depending on interferance and signal strength - also you would need n wireless to do hd well. But I think all ps3 models internal wireless is G speed. HOWEVER that may be only the fat models. The ps3 slim models may have internal n now. I don't know about that - I have a fat 40gb ps3 so I don't know about the newer slim models.

Each program has its own tutorial you can follow.

Basically for ps3 media server or any server program you load it and then select the folders you want to stream. As long as both your ps3 and computer are on and connected to the same network your ps3 will see the server (your ps3 must be set up for media servers - in the settings somewhere - I set mine up a long time ago and don't remember where it is). The other thing is if you decide to stream you should do it wired over lan through a router - you can do it wirelessly but it won't be as flawless as a wired connnection (possible interference and bandwidth issues etc).

For mkv2vob you'll follow its instructions and you will convert the mkv into a vob that the ps3 can read - then you burn the vob to dvd using imgburn.

Again both programs have their own tutorials you can follow but I have just given you the basics.

  6. PS3 Media Server is the best it can get. it plays MKV, AVI and even VOB formats. it even reads srt files into subtitles ...TVersity and others sucks in front of this. very simple to use, and it autodetects your ps3.

Load the mkv file into TsMuxer and save to a USB stick as a m2ts file in a root folder named "Video".

You have to have a bluray rom drive on the computer that can read bluray discs to copy it. It doesn't have to be a bluray burner but just a bluray rom drive so you can read the files on it.

If the blu-ray disc shows as a data disc on the PS3 then you might be able to copy each mkv file to the HDD if they're smaller than 4Gig. Then copy each file back to a usb stick.

Process the files as I mentioned above.
