    hello all,

trying to put a bunch of vcd's on a dvd with the instructions from vcdhelp. have all the files ready to go, but when i go to export and test write in SpruceUp, i get an error: PAL/NTSC Video Format Mismatch With Project Settings.

i have the settings on NTSC, and the original VCD's are also NTSC. any clues as to what the problem is here? thanks in advance.

I had same problem. The solution is to take your vcd and convert it to Ntsc using TMPGEnc and then you will no longer have this problem. You say your vcd is alreay NTSC and not Pal but the fact that Spruceup gives you this error tells me that It is pal.Enjoy!

  4. What is the screen resolution of your VCDs (ex. 480 X 480)? With SpruceUp, if your trying to convert some VCDs to DVD, you need to change the screensize of the video file to be DVD compliant (352 X 480). This is what I did to accomplish this. Find a program called DVDPatcher. This program will allow to change the header file of your video. Change the screensize to 352 X 480 and patch. Import this video into SpruceUp and save your project. Now reopen DVDPatcher and patch the resolution back. SpruceUp only checks the video file initally. Once you have saved the project, it will not check to see if the file is compliant. This is just a sneaky way of tricking SpruceUp. Hopefully, this is what you were referring to.

  5. 352x240 is a perfectly legal screen resolution for DVD, both encoded as mpeg-1 and mpeg-2. The only part of a VCD that is outside DVD specs is the audio sampling rate of 44.1KHz. DVD specs call for 48KHz. But any DVD player that can play a VCD or SVCD, can also play a 44.1KHz sampled audio stream. It's a matter of finding a "real" DVD authoring program made for consumer DVD making.

  6. I used the DVDPatch program and was able to input the video clips, saved the project, patched back, when I go to write the DVD or an Image I get the NTSC/Pal Mismatch Error. I followed all the DVDPatcher instructions from the vcdhelp.com authoring tutorial and I still get the error when I go to finish it all up, any ideas?
