I have connected a pc to a tv many times. But why is that you can't have the image displayed on both the tv screen and the pc screen simultaneously? Is there a way to do it? I have seen a pc connected to a projector and the image displaying on both the projector screen and on the computer monitor screen at the same time. i don't want to keep on looking at the tv screen all the time to navigate around a web site. I am running windows 7 home premium. Any help would most be appreciated!![]()

Of course, displaying in clone mode requires a graphics card with dual outputs. Not all graphics cards or laptops have this.

control+ the F button with a tv icon on it should cycle thro pc only, ext monitor only or both together.
not sure which f button it is on your machine, look for one with a tv symbol on it. -
I have a Toshiba projection tv which has an S-video, RCA, and component video connection inputs. Since my laptop has a S-video input I use the S-video + 3.5mm Audio to 3 RCA Composite cable. Here is a link to the cable that I use:

Your laptop S-Video is an output. This you feed to your projector.
Many laptops support dual monitor mode where the laptop LCD is one monitor and VGA or S-Video is monitor 2. S-Video out usually works best when the monitor 2 desktop is set to 800x600 or 1024x768. Whichever you select, after D/A the S-Video analog output will be 480i line NTSC or 576i line PAL. Don't expect much detail.
Some laptops only support a clone mode for S-Video. See your manual In this case you are limited to your laptop screen resolution before D/A. This may result in tiny blurred text.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

A 1024x768 desktop viewed over s-video will look about like the image in this post:

can you do the same procedure with a desktop with using the "clone" method? What would be the minimal requirements in order to do so?

I don't want just the wallpaper of my pc screen to be displayed on the tv screen, but the start menu and all the icons and anything else. I want the exact copy image on my pc screen to be displayed on the tv screen.

1: Connect the s-video cable to the tv and the other end into the toshiba satellite.
2: Turn on your television, then the toshiba satellite.
3: Change the input on the tv to s-video.
4: On a windows 7 toshiba satellite, press the windows key and "P" at the same time to instantly pull up a menu asking you to spit the video signal out to the television.
5: Choose the television as your destination monitor, then click "Apply" and "Done".
