Just wondering if there are any viable alternatives to TMPGEnc Xpress (that include all the filtering, picture adjustments, etc)?

    Thanks.

(I should add that work under Win7 64-bit)

With all due respect, I'm not looking to author BDs, and I don't see any software listed on your page that provides for the filtering capabilities that TMGEnc XPress does. Am I missing something?

  3. Why show respect? Can't you spot a spammer when you see one?

XviD4PSP uses AviSynth filters (better than anything in TMPGEnc) and encodes to many different formats. It might help, though, if you told us your source formats and the intended output formats.

  4. Or VirtualDub -- if you want AVI output. (As I understand it, there is an experimental version of VirtualDub that allows the use of external output filters -- that will let you create other file types like MPG, MKV, etc.).

i can think of a few off the top of my head:

    avidemux (free, lots of features)

    xmedia recode (as above)

    avs video editor

    ulead video studio

cyberlink power director (offers gpu accelerated h264 encoding, pretty slick)

free demos are available for the last 3.

I'll check out xmeda recode and ulead, as I'm not totally familiar with them (I never encode to h264). All I'm looking to do is clean up existing files, and change formats - sometimes to Xvid, sometimes MPEG1, sometime MPEG2, etc. TMPGEnc just seems to have the most intuitive interface and the most options & filters available. I've tried Xvid4PSP and have not been happy with the results. If I just wanted format conversion, I can get that from Super (which I've never had any problems with) - it's the filters and picture options I'm looking for. (AVIDemux I've used, doesn't have the options, neither does VD or VDMod).
