I have a 1999 Canon XL-1 Mini-DV camera. I only shoot in SP mode. I know there is a simple fix (I used to know it) for syncing 16 bit 2 channel audio to match the video, but I no longer know how. My editing software is the latest Pinnacle product.
Thanks for your attention.

i've used lots of gl1's and never had a problem with unsynced 16 bit audio. try capturing the tapes with winDV and in the config pop-up make sure to choose type II avi. the video and audio are interleaved during transfer.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to figure out exactly what you're asking. 16-bit, 2-channel audio (as opposed to 12-bit, 4 channel) is pretty much the default for DV. It's easy to sync it up on just about any timeline video editor. What, specifically, seems to be the problem in synchronizing the audio?
Is this camera audio, and is it out-of-sync with the picture? If so, you can unlock audio from the video and slide the audio track a few frames in either direction until you get in sync. Or are you trying to align a separate audio recording with the camcorder audio? That can be accomplished by aligning waveforms. -
It's camera audio and I couldn't find a way to sync it on the Pinnacle software. Perhaps I wasn't looking closely enough. I'll try all the suggestions given to me.
Thank you both (so far) for responding.
