Cant get ffmpeg X to work

I am very new to all this, I need to edit FLV files with imovie so I need a quick conversion for large files. I downloaded ffmpeg with all the files it needed, and it is running fine. However after I chose the file I want to convert, after I click "encode," it says finished in the progress window but nothing happens and I can't find my encoded files anywhere. Am I missing something? Where will I be able to find my files?

I saved them on my desktop so they will be easy to find but I sill can't find them anywhere...

Please post the content of the Process Information log, accessible by pressing the blue "i" in the ffmpegX Progress window, after a conversion attempt. That should help up figure out what is going on.
