  1. Hi, I have an XP PC directly connected to ADSL (LAN card connected directly to ADSL modem). I have a Bluetooth USB adapter that I can plug into the PC's USB port so that my Bluetooth enabled netbook (windows 7 ultimate) can access it.
How can I safely share the PC's ADSL connection so that the netbook can connect to the net via bluetooth? Thanks.

    I never heard of that.

You can share internet with Ethernet (wired or wireless) or IEEE-1394.

Apparently it is possible using Internet Connection Sharing under XP

However if the netbook has wireless you would be better off getting a wireless router and attaching that to your adsl modem, and then using wireless. The connection will be faster (a lot faster), more stable, and won't rely on the PC being on all when you want to connect.

Yeah, a wireless router is much simpler. They're a commodity item now, you can get them for $20, or less used (Wifi "G"; Wifi "N" has higher capacity, but G already is faster than DSL Internet, so you won't see any improvement). Also they have a built in firewall. Most have four Ethernet ports for PCs as well as wifi for laptops and such.

  5. Thanks everyone, yes I know that a WiFi router is the way to go, but right now I have this USB bluetooth and it costs nothing to try in the meantime. There are many places in the net with info on this, but none so far where I could read simple and clear instructions. I'll keep you updated if I manage to do it!

I suspect there are no clear instructions because this isn't what bluetooth or ICS were designed for, so solutions will be kludgy, and possibly specific to the bluetooth hardware being used
