  1. Hello all, I am new to this forum and video capture.
I wanted to record a video gameplay of my PC flawlessly without the drop of framerate and looked into the blackmagic intensity pro.
I was thinking if it is possible to record from PC1 to PC2 with a blackmagic intensity pro through a DVI to HDMI adapter, I bought the card and installed into my PC but I can't get it working, all I had was a blank screen.

    PC1 config (Gaming PC):
    i7 920
    6gb ram
    ATI 4870x2
    2X Team SSD RAID

    PC2 config (Record PC):
    E8400
    4g ram
    8800GTS
    2X Hitachi 1TB RAID

    Setup
    4870x2 DVI1: Samsung P2450h
    4870x2 DVI2: HDMI adapter-->5m HDMI cable-->Blackmagic intensity pro

I googled and know that the card can only capture 1080i and 720p, so i tried to set PC1 into clone mode and make it 1080i 50, however in ATI CCC it doesn't have other options apart from 1080p 60/50 and 1080i 30, I applied the HDTV settings in CCC but everytime it just revert back to normal.
I searched plenty of PS3/Xbox guide out there but there are none for PC to PC capture, and I don't know what I have done wrong as I m very new to PC capture and video type of things, does anyone have an idea what should I do?

    Appreciate for any help

  2. Separate the devices. First verify a working output from the gaming PC to an HDTV. ATI cards will often reset the TV output and/or disable it when there is no detected device on the cable. Nvidia cards do not seem to suffer from this issue. You should experiment with disconnecting and re-connecting the cable to a TV to verfy that it continues to function correctly. You may need to add the TV to the output chain from the blackmagic. When connecting the blackmagic to the HDMI, if it does not function, move the cable back to the TV and verify again. You may need to reboot and reset the output.

It may be necessary to power off the gaming PC when moving the cable. It may be necessary to NOT power off the PC when moving the cable.

Then, use a different output device to the blackmagic, verify that the input is working and you get a screen dsplay.

The bad news may be that the ATI card may not detect the blackmagic as a functioning HDMI device, and disable the output. You may need the capture PC powered on first.

  3. Alright, i spent a day swapping all the hardwares and cables around and did a lot of tests.
And i got it working under Nvidia display card only.
It was quite funny that I can get it working under a Nvidia 8800GTS card, all I had to do was use 1080P 30 in the media express and set the correct resolution under nvidia control panel, but I have no idea how to get the stupid ATI CCC working as I tried all of the resolution provided under ATI CCC and all of them just won't work, it is very frustrating...

  4. The Intensity Pro shouldn't be able to capture 1080p30. Only 1080i30 and 720p60.

This is a screenshot taken with 8800GTS and the Blackmagic intensity pro installed into a same machine and connected with each other using a HDMI to DVI converter (this is just for testing, I wanted to get it working with my 4870x2 but it just wont work). I set the 2 output to clone mode and got it working with 1080p 30 setting with media express, I have no idea how it worked and I m really confused now.

  6. I tested all the nvidia cards I have: 8800GTS, 8600GTS and 8500, they all worked like a charm. I didn't need to set much things and they just worked, but with the ATI 4870x2, I just cant get it working..... Anyone have any ideas on how to set it?

  7. Please describe in greater detail specific steps taken and specific results.

Step 1 is getting HDMI output from the ATI card to an HDTV. Were you able to accomplish this?
