I need to put some subtitle lines on the top of the screen. Then I opened the srt file in Sub2ssa, marked some lines, clicked on "top center", applied and saved as .ssa.
Tested on VLC Media player and it's perfect.

After converting in ConvertxtoDVD, noticed the subs I've marked as "top center" are on the bottom. :-S
In other words, ConvertxtoDVD doesn't recognize/ignore ssa styles.

Tried AVStoDVD and it has no ssa support.

    Any tip?

    Thanks.

Try dvdauthorgui. Although I've never had the subtitles anywhere except for on the bottom of the screen, I do use subtitles sometimes on my DVDs and can confirm that it will accept ssa subtitles.

I'm about to just output my computer to my DVD recorder, for this function. I want to make a DVD set from a brilliantly-done ASS sub set, and there doesn't seem to be a tool that can easily hard-code them into the video. Although I've not looked too deeply, yet.

Did you try the Textsub filter in AviSynth?

CogoSWSDS, it's compatible with mpeg only. I have an avi.
Anyway, just for testing, I've opened an mpeg file and it gives error: "NAV packets are not detected in filename.mpg. Please demultiplex."
    Is this behavior normal?

El Heggunte, Maestro SBT gives "no styles were found. Most likely, this is not a ssa V4 file. If this is a SSA V2 file, you must open it with Sub Station Alpha and save as SSA V4". I did it. I'm still getting error.

You said you converted it to DVD using ConvertX2DVD. If so, then open the VOB(s) (or the demuxed M2V and AC3 audio) in DVDAuthorGUI for authoring, and add in the subs.

You can also change the position of the subs after the fact using DVDSubEdit.

About the styles not being found, when you open it in Notepad does it have the styles section? If there's something screwy about this SSA file, though, then all bets are off. Did you make it yourself? And if so, how?

You had said you'd created VOB files, which DVDAuthorGUI will accept.

@manono: I did not know that the position of the subs could be changed with DVDSubEdit. Good to know.
