I bought a Optiarc AD 7200A drive and put it in a external enclosure by Creative. It is recognized by the computer but will not play any media. It freezes up my computer when I try. It will not burn also. After being recognized by computer, that is pretty much it, can't do anything.
Is it because I put it in the Creative enclosure? I did this so my daughter could use it with her laptop because her laptop drive has died. If this will not work, I may install it in one of my desktop computers.
Do you think that is worth doing? I did a search on this drive here in the forums and it got trashed a lot.

    thanks

Put it in the computer and set the region. Then try again in the enclosure. The laptop might also need drivers depending on the operating system. Good luck....

Is that a IDE (PATA) drive? If so, make sure the drive's jumper is set to the 'Master' position. Region shouldn't matter except with commercial discs. I assume USB 2.0 cabling to the laptop? If so, might be a USB problem also.
