How to restore desktop shortcut arrows and folder/file icons.

I recently downloaded this program that changes windows theme. The catch was that it only worked for windows vista and xp. I made a gamble by using windows 7. The aftermath- my laptop wasn't that messed up. Just all the file and folder icons were screwed up.

Here's the list of problems
- arrow icons for program shortcuts are replaced with an icon of a cd and box
- folders have a different icons NOTE I already tried using the method of customizing the icon and it didn't work for most folders
- files that have to be opened manually or that are unreadable(EXAMPLE- an srt subtitle file) have a shield icon instead of a blank paper like icon
- local Disk D has a red X mark on it

PS- where can I usually find the folder in local disk C that contains windows icons
- I am usually left to a dead end with 'local disk C_windows_System32'
