  1. I already have ffmpeg installed. It can input wmv and output it as another format. The problem is that the quality isn't so good. This could be my fault for not using the correct options. Which is why I am interested in ffmpegX, where having a GUI will make it easier to try different parameters, without having to continuously scroll through the man pages.

    The quality of the output only depends on the parameters of the conversion. If you do get output, then the input file could be read (decoded).

    If you give more details (target codec, size, etc.), maybe we can assist some more.
