I use orbit downloader to record live media streams (mainly webcams) and I replay them using Windows Media Player ; most of the time the download is perfect. Occasionally there will be music on the webcam and it downloads as a music file and won't play the video (only music with a black screen) in WMP [I had a previous thread about this]. These files play perfectly in the VLC media player ; subsequently, I learned how to use VLC's conversion feature to convert these files that wouldn't play into flv files that play perfectly in WMP. I had no trouble using the converter: I'd choose the files, choose where they would download to and rename them, and the conversion would take seconds, even for larger files.
The other day I got a pop-up to download the new 1.1.3 VLC player, so I did, and now the converter won't work at all!! I've removed 1.1.3 and downloaded both 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, and every time the converter won't work. I'm using the same process, and nothing happens. It'll say "streaming" when I try to convert, but it seems frozen (it's not converting or streaming) and it won't shut down/close. if I open another VLC player when this happens, it freezes my computer and I have to restart it. A few times during my trials with the various players (I only have 1 VLC player downloaded), they did stream and convert, only it took forever (twice as long as the file's running time) and when I would try to play it back, say an hour file was now 3 hours and it was just a frozen image. I also have an ASV converter which is great but takes forever to convert these files. I loved how fast and easy the conversion was on the VLC player before I downloaded 1.1.3. Anyone else have similar problems or any ideas or solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
