Hi, Not sure how to express this but here goes, apologies if this is in the wrong forum as not sure where this sits under.
I am in the process of trying to convert / compress all my DVDs to file i.e. avi, mkv mp4 etc.
My question is as I am going to be doing this for DVDs of TV series does anyone know of an app which will use the true title of the DVD track I am compressing i.e. Take for example Lost, I dont want to keep typing out the epsiode name for each file that is created from the DVD. Is there an app that can read the names of the epsiodes on the DVD and use those as the file names names I want to convert / compress instead of me looing for the episode name and typing this out for the filename manually.
I hope this makes sense.
Many Thanks

Nope. The episodes names are not stored in text format so it would be very tricky to read them.

ok thanks, is there another way , a naming convention I could use or something, I suppose a typical name format most people commonly use?

Typical naming scheme would be Series.name.SnnEnn.Episode.title where Snn is series number and Enn is episode number, like in "S05E09".
It also helps with alphabetical sorting... -
Having already done what you are planning to do I can tell you there isn't. The closest I got to it was by making a batch file as I was transcribing the episodes title from the disc menu. I used the batch to create folders to store each episode which would then be fed into AutoGK, it would then automatically name the resulting AVI with the folder name. Wasn't too much work as there aren't that many episodes on a disc and in a season, you just do a little bit at a time.
One thing that could work would be to use a sub ripper that does OCR and specify to rip only from and to a set time at the beginning of an episode. to catch the episode's title. Should work for a specific show within the same season as they tend to re-use credits and so on, then you'd make a batch to generate the folders. Unfortunately, few TV show display the title anymore and I think I can type faster than going through that process. Maybe someone can write a simple VBS or something to wrap all this togheter, don't know it's worth it, just a thought.
