  1. Which is a better and faster way/software to convert mpeg to VCD: Nero or other conversion software? I tried to burn VCD with Nero but it took alomost 4 hours to complete the re-encoding and burning. Does it sound too long? Please advise. Thanks.

Use TMPG to encode before inputting clip to Nero. See CONVERT to the left.

  4. Your question is rather strange. Its like asking if its darker outside than at nighttime. mpeg is a compression format and VCD (Video-CD) is a standard media format. All you need is VCD compliant mpeg-1 moviefiles and then you burn them to a disc with a burning software that is cabable of burning VCD's, like Nero. Once I have the finished mpeg file, it takes me about 5 minutes to burn the CD. So I don't really understand what you are trying to do. Maybe you have some non-compliant mpeg files and Nero tries to reencode them to make them compliant, could that be the problem? I always make VCD compliant mpeg right from the start, or then I turn off the standard checking, and make a non-standard VCD (different resolution, higher bitrate), which also works fine in my player. Just has to be an mpeg-1 movie. So I suggest you make compliant mpeg files from the beginning or uncheck the standard-VCD and try to run a non-standard VCD on your player.
