  1. Hi all,

But i still cannot convert RMVB files to MP4 files...

    Here is the log...

    bad packet len (0)
    bad packet len (0)
    bad packet len (0)
and it would keep "bad packet len (0)" all the way...

It seems that mplayer can play the file (i pressed "Play" on the ffmpegx window)... so what can be the problem?

    Other things i've tried...

    1) remove all asian characters from the file names - doesnt work (same problem)
    2) change permissions for all the files in the /Library/Application Support/ffmpegx/ folder to read only - doesn't work
    3) change permissions for all the files in the /Library/Application Support/ffmpegx/reallib/ folder to read, write (after i changed to read only) - doesn't work
    4) invert the audio - doesn't work

I am sure i DL'ed the right files for my computer (file name got Intel)

Here's what i get when i ls that folder... seems ok right?

    Code:
    My-MacBook:~ user$ ls /Library/Application\ Support/ffmpegX/reallib/

The mencoder log seems to detect a framerate of 25 fps. Can you verify this in RealPlayer? Techniques like variable framerate can throw ffmpegX off when it looks at the first framerate number it finds.

If ffmpegX can play the file through mplayer, then you have installed the reallib folder correctly.

The "invert mapping" of the audio has no effect on mplayer/mencoder, as it is an ffmpeg option.

For some conversions, RMVB files convert better when their suffix is renamed to ".rm"

"bad packet len (0)" is –as I understand it– usually a sign of some form of data corruption in the source file. Could this be a captured network stream, like a file dump from a streaming server?

Despite all the errors, did it generate an output file? Was it really (no pun intended) bad?

  3. hmmm.. my bad.. seems like the source file itself was corrupted.. only the first few min was ok.. so when i previewed the file i still could play it.. haha..

    thanks for all your help!
