    I had a WinTV card once and ripped some video files with the program i got with it, the videos works just fine, even the audio is good.

    I got Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, and when i add the videos in vegas it doesnt seem to find the audio for the videofiles, it doesnt add an audio track or nothing, just the video track... though, the audio works just fine in whatever played i play them in (VLC, WMP etc...)

    Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Please help! =)

    /lou

  4. import the audio separately (vegas will accept mp2 audio elementary stream) , or save audio out as wave and import separately (e.g. using vdub or avidemux)

    edit: even better idea direct stream copy the video and just reencode the audio to ac3 or pcm wav into avi container,and vegas should accept (vdub )

    I have Virtual Dub... i imported the video file in there, but how exactly do i save it out as a audio file only, eg. wave?

  6. use the 2nd suggestion (copy video, re-encode audio, into avi container)

    video=> direct stream copy
    audio=> full processing mode
    audio=> compression => select no compression <PCM>
    file=> save as avi

    but if you wanted separate audio, use file=>save wav

    first suggestion, how did you mean exactly?

    after changing the audio codec to re-save it, i cant.. i get an error message about the audio. i tryed all the different audio codecs i can choose from, and i get errors from all, so i cant re-encode them..

    when i try "file" > "save wav..." it became a file 1,50 MB but when i add it to winamp it has no length or nothing in it. vegas cant even find the file or use it, so i guess its really nothing in there since i cant re-encode the audio which i said above.. :S

  8. what was the error message ?

    when you load the avi in vdub, and use file => file information , what does it say ?

  10. that is weird, it's reporting audio is being decoded in the file information

    you can try avidemux to save as wav or ac3 audio, or demux your mp2 audio . audio=>save and type name with extension e.g. "myfile.mp2" , leave the audio sidebar set to "copy" when you do this - this will copy the mp2 audio out of the avi file (but leaves original untouched)

    if you can't get it working, post a sample (upload to this site) and I'll have a look at it. Maybe something is peculiar about your specific files
