Problem viewing VCD from WinDVD

I burned my first VCD with Nero 5.5 demo version. I am able to view the .dat files fine using Windows Media Player. I tried to view it with WinDVD. WinDVD shows the main menu but then does not allow me to click on the chapter titles to view the videos.

Also, is there a way in Nero to append videos to each other, so when I select the first chapter, it will automatically play the second and third chapter when the first is finished?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe when you make a menu with Nero, the entries are not links. I have a message into Nero about this but haven't heard anything. If you will press 1 and then play you should be able to watch the first segment and so on.
