If you already have the SMR codec, then converting will be no diffrent to any other. Have you tried it ?

  3. Nope...
Damn MPGEnc still says: "can't open, or unsupported"...
I even tried the -divx2mp4- that I found on the site you linked me to but that didn't work either

Sometimes it helps to increase the priority of the direct show multimedia file reader. Option > enviromental setting.

  6. *Deep sigh*
I'm a bit closer now, but no cigar...
I increased the priority in TMPGEnc, now at least the process starts, HOWEVER...the damn film turns upside-down!
And no, I can't open the file in V-dub. I only get the message: "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIVX' (OpenDIVX)" The damn thing wants a VFW-compatible codec(???)
But I wanna thank u guys anyway for your advice, I won't give up!
    Hoping to recieve more tips...

If you click your right hand mouse on the AVI and select properties, this will tell you what codec was used. I doubt if anyone would use an old codec. is it SMR AngelPotion ?. Not something I like myself, and don't have it installed.

Go to your control panel select mutli media > devises > video compression codec's... Is it there ?

Maybe the codec is corrupt, I have not seen much that wont load into Vdub, unless corrupt. Sometimes un-installing AngelPotion will cure the problem !!

  8. I guess there's a higher power that doesn't want me to convert those files...
    Nothing works!
The "properties" only say: Angelpotion. And I did try to un-install the Angelpotion-codec, but no change...Neither TMPGEnc nor V-dub will accept these files. BOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!
    PS.
I have the following in "properties for video-codec":
    APmpg4v1.dll
    DivX;-]MPEG-4VideoCodec(Fast motion)
    " " " " (Low motion)
    iccvid.dll
    Indeo video5.10
    ir32_32.dll
    Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v3
    msh261.drv
    msh263.drv
    msrle32.dll
    msvidc32.dll
    VFAPI Reader Codec v1.01

I tried to remove the 1st one, but no luck...

I'm about to hang myself with a PC-cable

Hi those AVI are not SMR they are Microsoft Mpeg 4 files, and the DivX MPEG 4. There should be no problems with those.

The SMR codec does mess the system up, you need to get rid of it and re-install the the others. If the add remove is failing, re-install the Angel Potion, then use the un-installer to remove it.
