I'm trying to learn how to convert downloaded SWF videos, then burn them to DVD's so they can be viewed on TV using a stand alone Sony DVD player.

Although I'm able to do so, once they're burned onto a DVD, the video quality becomes quite poor (not clear & sharp like commercial DVDs). My conversion process first converts the SWF into an MPEG file, then the MPEG is converted & burned to a common DVD. These steps both cause a loss of video quality.

I am not well versed with the many formats & software available that might be used to make DVD videos of high quality so I need some help. Can some one please tell me which conversion format I should use & if possible, software that works well for such jobs. Help will be very much appreciated.

    Regards, Richard

Is the original SWF clear & sharp like commercial DVDs? If not then I don't see how you can expect the quality to improve any.

That's a big mistake right there. To minimize quality degradation do the whole thing in one step. And detail what you're using for the conversion(s).

    Hi Manono,

    Thanks for replying.

The original SWF's are real sharp & clear (pretty much like commercial DVD's or analog TV).

I would like to try to fix the "big mistake". Please tell me the preferred software that can convert SWF to DVD in one step?

"And detail what you're using for the conversion(s)." I don't understand what you mean. Please clarify.

  4. I was asking what programs you're using now to do these conversions. I don't believe you mentioned any names in the original post.

Me, I don't convert downloaded SWF to DVD. If I did, I'd use an AviSynth script frameserved into CCE. But I'm sure someone else will come along and tell you a good way to do it.

    Manono,

Programs being used now are "Bytescout SWF to Video" to convert to MPEG, then "DVD Flick" to convert the MPEG to VOB/DVD burn. I am reluctant to get into AviSinth & CCE since they maybe too "Geeky" for my skill level. At this point, I would prefer some thing with a more "dummy" friendly interface.

Help. Does anyone have any suggestions for such software?
    Best regards, Richard
