  1. is there a way to encode like half of an MPG at one time, shut off your computer, then continue encoding when you turn it back on?

if not the maker of TMPGEnc should do this...

  5. Yea you can do half and shut off the comp and come back later and do the other half. Sometime it want maintain the stop and start point so make sure you write them down.

you might try to increase your virtual memory on your computer. and you have to split it any way, so set up projects to only do so much of the movie. under settings; advanced use source range and set it to what you want, then set everything else up and save the project then move th dource range to the next segment and save the project as disc 2 and so one.... the set up a batch encode to do it all. this will clear your buffer of the wav before hand and you can let it run all night without worries.

  9. when you convert dvd to avi do half and half of the vob's then you can have 2 files encode each separately. The question is not comprehensible to me I can't see any reason to do this your way?

  10. i just decided to encode only the m1v:
i demultiplexed the original and made an mpg (no sound) with the .m1v
then i demultiplexed the no sound mpg and multiplexed the new m1v and the old mp2.

very suprisingly encoding only the video stream took maybe 2 hours (as opposed to the 20% done after leaving it on for 4 hours with the video and audio stream) - i left it on when i watched "Snatch" (good movie).

I usually just leave my computer on overnight or when I'm at work.
