Need help with ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5 and editing catures with Avidemux 2.5

I have been going around in circles trying to figure out how to set the capture filters used by ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5. I am also having trouble combining the MPG capture files in Avidemux 2.5 generated by ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5. It also seems the captures in video mode have a diferant file structure than the ones captured in TV mode. I want to be able to comercial edit my captures as well as join the files. It would also be nice to be able to somehow put them into DVD shrink afterwords. I am also highly interested in automatic commercial removal during captures & logo removal. Unfortunetly TotalMedia 3.5 seems to be the only free tuner software that is compatable with this GynaTech TV Thriller card I have. All the rest eather dont support it or crash when I try to use them. Can someone, anyone please get me pointed in the right direction please.
PS: Avidemux 2.5 seems to hate this computer of mine and I cant figure out why. Im guessing its some type of errors caused by this nvidea system with the internal q-time so im getting ready to try an erlyer build, hoping it will help. From what I read build 2.4.4 relys on external q-time so im getting ready to try it.
