I have replaced the main video on an existing DVD to include a version that has dual audio and subtitles (the original had Chinese as the only audio track and both Chinese & English as the subtitles). The replacement section now has English as the 1st channel and Chinese as the 2nd, with no Chinese subs, but only English subs. I have not altered other sections of the disc, which have only Chinese audio and both English and Chinese subs. However, after replacing the video section with VOBBlanker, the designations of the Audio & Subs are incorrect for the replaced section. I have tried to change them with PGCEdit, but that appears to change them for the entire disc.

So basically the audio designations are switched, and it has retained the listing for a Chinese subtitle track that no longer exists, but is instead the English track (which is also listed, but there is no subtitle file for the selection) - I hope that's clear.

Is there any *easy* way to just change the designations of the one section?

    Thanks much!

Did you replace a complete VTS or just one of its PGC's?

  3. You'll have to be a bit more specific with what you mean by 'section'. If you replaced only a cell (chapter), then of course what is set for the one 'section' is set for all of them. The same is true with 2 titles (PGCs) in the same VTS.

The obvious answer is to make Chinese the first language in the replaced 'section', and keep both subs (reauthor it with Muxman or remap the audio). You can still easily set the English track as the default with a SetSTN command.

Of course, this begs the question of who in their right mind would want to watch a Chinese film (or a 'section' of one) in any other language but the original?

I replaced the main movie (there were additional extras on the original disc). While the main movie had the same number of chapters, the length was slightly longer (and I accept that the chapter points are slightly off) - it's just the "re-designating of the Audio and Sub selections that I'd like to adjust (for the main movie) and not touch anything else on the disc.

    Thanks!

(FWIW, I set Channel 1 (default) to the English dub, and Channel 2 to the Original Chinese, with the Subs initially defaulting to none, and only the English available to be selected. While this will not conform to the menu selections, I'm not concerned about that, as they can be manually selected either on the computer or the DVD player).

Hmm, thought this would have been an easier thing to resolve.

If you loaded the chapters of the replacing video, they shouldn't be off at all.

Hmm yourself. I didn't see any new questions in your second post and you've already been told that if the PGCs are all from the same VTS, changing for one changes for all. You've also already been given a workaround.

The runtime of the 2nd (replacement) video is longer than the 1st, so even though there are the same number of chapters, the specific location of the chapters is off. That, however, is not what concerns me. It's being able to accurately change the audio and subtitle designations of just the replacement video, without affecting the rest of the disc. If I use PGCEdit and select Domain Attributes, it changes them for *all* the segments.

My apologies if I wasn't clear on things.
