I have followed the instructions regarding hacking my 5990. My issue is when I get to the Preferences page, and type in the code, nothing happens.
This seems to work for everyone else, but not my machine. I've tried it with the tray open and the tray closed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Did you check the firmware veresion? It's always possible there's a new version of the firmware and the hack no longer works. From one of the hack posts:
Verify procedure:
Open tray
Press 'Setup' button once
In 'General' page, press 1379
Firmware screen shows up displaying firmware version and region code in the bottom
Press 'OK' to exit
Some general guidelines: Make sure there is no disc in the drive. Start from a fresh power up. Don't wait too long between button presses. -
