Hey guys, I tried looking around for an answer to this and its probably something stupid that Im doing, but when I try setting a custom file size for a video using Avidemux, it somehow isnt saving the new settings. It keeps resetting when I use the calculator to check it. I open the configure screen for MPEG-4 ASP (Xvid) and I chose the Two Pass, custom file size thing and changed it to 250mb. Which put the bitrate at like 700 I think it was, (program occupied atm, cant check). Then I open the calculator and choose custom, and changed it to 250mb and hit ok. Now when I save the video its still coming out at 700mb and 1500 bitrate.

Why are the settings not saving? I can open the calculator, change the file size from 700mb to 250mb and click ok, then reopen the calculator and everything is reset. What am I not understanding?

    Thanks guys.

  2. You're right, I can confirm this behaviour . IIRC, it used to work in the past

I guess you have to manually enter the bitrate value from the calculator into the encoding settings

This seems to be working, thanks for the tip. I used Single Pass Constant Bitrate, and put in 750, after the calculator told me 250mb was about 750 bitrate. I have the video saving right now, and its averaging 690-850 or so as its being saved. So ill check it when its done.
