Ok here is my setup.
I have a home theater pc with a radeon 5770 video card.
There are outputs for 2 monitors.
The first can be either HDMI or DVI and the second is DVI.
I have the HDMI going to my Denon receiver. My receiver has an HDMI out going to my Sony television.
My second monitor in an Acer touchscreen. I have a hdmi cable going from the monitor to the pc with a dvi to hdmi adapter on it.
I use the 52" Sony for my general HTPC needs.
The Acer is being used as a touch screen jukebox.
I am running them in clone mode so they are displaying the exact same things.
I am running Windows 7 32 bit.
Here is the issue.
I can use the Sony by itself or with the Acer on with no problems.
However if I want to run the jukebox on the Acer by itself which I will want to do a great bit of the time I have to leave the tv on. If I shut the tv off I will still get the sound that the jukebox is playing through my Denon receiver but I lose my screen on the Acer. I don't lose everything... It displays the wallpaper. But all the windows stuff and any running programs disappear.
So what is the deal....why would the tv being on make any difference whatsoever?
By the way I have tried this with a dvi/dvi cable to the Acer. Still no go.
I have hooked the hdmi up from the pc to the acer and the hdmi to dvi converter to the receiver....same results.
Any thoughts?
I have no desire to leave my tv on all the time when I just want to run my jukebox.....

Oh yeah, weird issue #2.
Lets say I extend the display across both monitors.
I lose my touchscreen ability on the Acer....BUT not exactly.
Whatever I touch on the Acer happens on the Sony TV....WTF!!!
What I mean is if I trace a square on the Acer it happens on the Sony....If I tap in the right space where a window is I can drag it on the Sony using the Acer monitor..... -
>>>BUMP
sorry to bump this but I am completely stumped on this issue....
Any suggestions whatsoever? -

Update... I believe I can eliminate the video card as the problem. I bypassed the receiver and hooked the HTPC directly to the tv. Doing this gave me full control of the touchscreen with the tv off.
However, I can't have sound without my receiver! Has to be an issue with my Denon receiver but I have not a clue as to what it could be....
any thoughts?
