I've acquired one of these on approval. I also have the opportunity to acquire a TBC1000. I want to use a TBC in digitising VHS tapes. I've read the forums and lordsmurf's site extensively.

Can anyone summarise for me the differences in functionality between the 2 unit? I can see that the 3000 is able to work with 2 sources - a function I don't actually need. What are the other differences if any? I'm particularly interested in anything that has an impact on quality.

I've googled the TBC3000 but can't find much in the way of technical specs that makes much sense to me.

TBC-3000 = frame sync TBC with weenie** proc amp functions. Similar to AVT-8710.
TBC-1000 = frame sync TBC with distribution amp (4 outputs)

If you want a proc amp, buy a real proc amp**. Otherwise, the 1000 and 3000 are the same.

    ** Update **

In the years since this post, my views have somewhat changed/matured on the TBC-3000 proc amp. Much like the AVT-8710, which has been flawed since 2010 (the post-green era), DataVideo had several revisions. When you dismantle and tear-down a unit, you'll see these. The unit that I had pre-2010 had issues, and it was a finicky fidgety TBC. And I came across many in that same condition during my post-2010 TBC research.

But when you get a good TBC-3000, the proc amp is admirable.
    - The Elite BVP is sometimes too strong.
    - The AVT-8710/CTB-100 is still weenie.
    - The TBC-3000 can be "just right", if in good condition (ie, not from eBay, even when claimed "tested" and in "good condition").

One thing I'd be interested in seeing is whether your TBC3000 shifts the picture at all. My TBC3000 shifts the picture to the right about 8-9 pixels.

Another owner of the TBC3000 noticed a similar shift on his in a thread I started a long time ago. A TBC1000 owner who I asked didn't seem to have this issue. I'd be interested in your experience.

Take it apart and look for adjustment screws.
It may be like the Elite Video BVP4 Plus in this regard: Elite BVP-4 BVP4+ proc amp [REPAIR GUIDE]

    Worth a quick look.

I did that a long time ago. There are no adjustment pots or anything else. I even called Datavideo and talked ot them about it. They were going to try to find me another chip to replace the one socketed chip on the mainboard, but couldn't find one.
