Hi
I am quite desperate on one hand because I know very little about video editing and on other hand because I don't know anyone with Video Editing experience. ... So I hope I will find my answers here. Here is my issue:
I have 8 Disks, each Disk contains
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01.VOB
When I click on my VOB Video in Disk 1 I can play my video and it also displays the subtitles (I suppose they were saved in IFO file).
I am trying to put all 8 Disks into 1 Movie and then burn it on a DVD so it can be played on a bigger screen without interruptions. It is easy to put the movies together, but they dont come with the subtitles that are very vital.
So, the questions is: How do I compile the Disks into 1 Disk and also preserve the subtitles?
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it!
Eve

Subs are in the VOBs.
If you put eight DVD length videos on a single DVD disk you might as well plan on watching them on a cell phone. Really low quality.
If you plan on converting them to a more compact format like H.264, you might be able to get them on a DL DVD disc with decent quality.
But what is your planned output format? You might be able to use DVDShrink to combine your files into one huge DVD. It can handle subs. Or maybe the pay ConvertXToDVD.
But if you have more specific aims, let us know and others may have better ideas.
And welcome to our forums.
EDIT: More info about the DVD structure, format and specification in 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page. <<<< -
Thank you for your response.
The 8 DVDs (VOB Files) were originally 1 movie on 1 DVD. They got separated into 5 minute segments. The subtitles are on each 5 minute section. So the size is not the issue, it is loosing the subtitles when combining the 5 minute segments. What program will allow me to reemerge them without loosing the subtitles.
End result is 1 VOB file. We want the highest quality output format (avi or vob). Thanks again! -
Put all VTS files in one directory. Name them in the sequence they are supposed to play. VTS_01_0.VOB until VTS01_x.VOB. Download and run IFOEDIT. Chose "Create IFOs" and point to VTS_01_0.VOB. This will create the necessary IFO files. Be aware: IFOEDIT has / had a bug that displayed subtitles sometimes in green font. Almost not readable. But it's worth a shot.

The ugly green colors can easily be fixed in either DVDSubEdit or PGCEdit. If he gets his subs back (and I think your method should work (as should adding them all into DVD Shrink and reauthoring, I think)), then he's almost there.

Yes -it works! After creating the IFO files with IFOEDIT open DVD structure on hard disc "video_ts" folder with PGCEDIT. Doubleclick VTST in the left window. In the lower left corner click on the 16 tiles you find there. First column you mark all 4 tiles with the one tile above the black color on the lower left (antialiasing). Mark all in the 2nd column white. Mark all in the 3rd column black (frame). Mark all in the 4th column white. Click "OK" on the bottom of the window. Do "File" "Save DVD". You're all set to check in PowerDVD and then burn the DVD structure to DVD.
